Noozday is a news reader. We keep data collection small and first-party: no advertising trackers, no third-party analytics, and we never sell or share your personal information. This page explains exactly what we store and the choices you have.

What we collect

WhatWhyStored where
Reading historyPowers “never see the same story twice” — stories you scroll past are hidden and moved to your Viewed desk.nz_anon cookie (an anonymous id) + our database
AccountIf you sign in, we store your email and a session so the site knows it’s you.Sign-in cookie + our database
Usage analyticsFirst-party, aggregate stats: page visited, referrer, approximate location (country/city from your network), device and browser type, time on page, scroll depth.A per-session id in your browser’s sessionStorage (cleared when you close the tab) + our database. In the EU/EEA/UK, only after you opt in.

We do not store your IP address, build a cross-site profile of you, or use any third-party analytics, advertising, or social-media tracking scripts.

Cookies & storage

  • Essential — your sign-in session and the consent choice you make below. These are always on; the site can’t work without them.
  • Functional — the nz_anon id that remembers which stories you’ve already read. Set when you start scrolling so the reader doesn’t show you the same thing twice.
  • Analytics — a temporary per-session id used only for the aggregate stats above. In the EU, EEA, UK, and Switzerland it stays off until you opt in via the consent banner; elsewhere it runs by default as first-party, privacy-preserving measurement.

We don’t use advertising or marketing cookies at all.

Your choices

  • Analytics consent — EU/EEA/UK/Switzerland visitors accept or decline analytics in the banner shown on the first visit. Either way you get the full reader.
  • Reading history — clearing your browser cookies (the nz_anon id) resets it. Signed-in history is tied to your account.
  • Your data — you can ask us to access or delete the data tied to your account or anonymous id. Email us and we’ll take care of it.

Third parties

The site is hosted on Vercel and our database is hosted on Turso; both process data on our behalf to run the service. If you sign in with Google, Google handles that authentication. Article links take you to the original publishers, who have their own privacy practices.

Children

Noozday isn’t directed at children under 13 and we don’t knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If we change what we collect, we’ll update this page and the “last updated” date above.
