Ugandan opposition leader Besigye unconscious in ICU after collapsing in court

BBC — World—Veteran Ugandan opposition leader Kizza Besigye is unconscious and in intensive care after collapsing during a court appearance, according to his wife. Winnie Byanyima, who heads UNAIDS, says he is unresponsive to pain and has asked that he be moved from the public Mulago hospital to a private facility. The case has drawn international attention partly because of Byanyima's prominent UN role, and partly because Besigye's own defense lawyer is separately facing treason charges, raising concerns about the fairness of the broader proceedings. Uganda's government has not issued a detailed response to the hospitalization.
