Several EU countries launch early access to EES pre-registration app ahead of border system rollout
Daily Sabah (Turkey)—A number of European Union member states have begun offering the Entry/Exit System pre-registration app, allowing non-EU travelers to submit biometric data in advance of the full EES border control system going live. The EES will require third-country nationals, including Americans and Britons, to register fingerprints and facial scans upon first entering the Schengen Zone. Early adoption of the pre-registration app is voluntary and aims to reduce queues at borders once the system becomes mandatory. The EES rollout has been repeatedly delayed since its initial planned launch in 2022.
