Supreme Court upholds late mail ballot grace periods, 5-4; separately expands Trump's agency firing power

Google News TopThe Supreme Court ruled 5-4 that states may count mail-in ballots postmarked by Election Day even if they arrive days later, rejecting a Republican National Committee challenge and upholding laws in Mississippi and more than 40 other states. Conservative justices joined the liberal bloc in that majority. In a separate 6-3 decision the same day, the Court overturned a 91-year-old precedent and expanded Trump's power to fire the heads of independent federal agencies.
