Trump awards Medals of Honor to two Vietnam Marines and an Afghanistan veteran in White House ceremony
The Hill—President Trump presented the Medal of Honor to three combat veterans at a White House ceremony, honoring two Force Recon Marines for heroism in Vietnam more than 50 years ago and one soldier for service in Afghanistan. Maj. James Capers Jr., who led a nine-man recon team in 1967, was among those recognized. The ceremony drew attention after Trump appeared to struggle fastening the medal clasp around one recipient's neck. Trump also took time to tout the stock market and praise Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth before the medals were awarded.
