South Africa's Ramaphosa Goes to Court to Block Impeachment Process Before Review
Daily Maverick—President Cyril Ramaphosa filed for urgent court relief to halt his impeachment proceedings in parliament, arguing he would suffer 'irreparable harm' if the process continued before a judicial review of its legality was complete. The impeachment stems from the Phala Phala scandal, in which cash was allegedly hidden and theft concealed at his farm. Both AllAfrica and the Daily Maverick confirmed his legal team filed papers arguing the parliamentary process is constitutionally irregular.
